About the course
This one or two year highly practical programme will equip students with the advanced technical, personal and interpersonal skills necessary to pursue a career in the medium of photography and other related visual media or to proceed with a high degree of competency to degree level through established links with universities in Ireland and the UK.

Leaving Certificate, LCA or FETAC Level 5 award. Applicants may be accepted without formal academic qualifications. At interview you may present a portfolio of visual work which is desirable. Mature applicants are welcome.
This course runs over two years – full time.

Students are continually assessed through practical project based assignments including portfolio preparation, ongoing critical review of work, production of visual promotional materials, running a professional studio, the event management of major exhibitions.
Our students have progressed to degree courses in Ireland, UK and Europe and having completed the National Certificate in Photography have been exempted from the first year of the degree course.
The course through the QQI links scheme allows students to earn up to a maximum of 400 points to which they can add a possible 600 points with the portfolio prepared in the college.
The wide variety of visual, graphic, design and technical skills gained on the course also makes students very successful in direct employment in the photographic industry.
DARKROOM
Complete Dark Room facilities for black and white film processing and printing
PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIO
Fully equipped studio with industry standard lighting equipment.
DIGITAL IMAGING & DESIGN
Industry standard computer hardware and software applications used in the areas of Image Manipulation, Print and Graphic Design.
ART STUDIO
Modern well-lit art studio for work in preparation and mounting of exhibition images.
RESOURCE ROOM/LIBRARY
A media library, housing extensive relevant books, newspapers, journals and magazines is available in the college.
